6×4 Trailers Melbourne

Galvanised 6×4 box and tipper trailers from $2,095 — built in Seaford by trailer makers with more than 30 years on the tools, and ready to tow away.

The classic all-rounder — right size for the everyday jobs

A 6×4 is the trailer most Melbourne households and weekend workers actually need. The deck is roughly 1.8m × 1.2m — enough for tip runs, green waste, mulch, firewood, a washing machine or a small mower — and at 750kg ATM with a tare around 250kg, you get roughly half a tonne of payload without needing brakes or a big tow vehicle. It tows easily behind a small hatchback, stores in a single garage bay, and our 6×4 tippers start at $2,095 with regular specials below the two-thousand mark.

Every 6×4 we build is hot-dip galvanised with a seam-welded checker plate floor (no joins where the sides meet the floor), a 50×50mm RHS frame, heavy-duty eye-to-eye shackle springs and LED lights as standard — plus a free jockey wheel and a 1-year structural warranty on frame and suspension. Choose 300mm or 400mm sides, with removable cages and tailgates front and rear. Browse the wider ranges too: single axle trailers and tipper trailers.

Not sure a 6×4 is big enough? The next step up is a 7×5 trailer — about 300mm more in each direction — or jump to our box trailer range for singles and tandems up to 10×6. And if nothing off the shelf fits, we’ll build it to your spec.

6×4 trailer FAQs

Do I need brakes on a 6×4 trailer?

No. Our 6×4s are rated at 750kg ATM, and trailers up to 750kg ATM don’t require brakes under Australian Design Rules. That keeps the price down and means there’s no brake gear to maintain.

The deck is about 1.8m × 1.2m with 300mm or 400mm sides. Think tip runs, garden waste, mulch, firewood, whitegoods, camping gear or a push mower — and with the removable cage fitted you can stack bulkier, lighter loads well above the sides.

If it’s mostly tip runs and household jobs, the 6×4 does it all and is easier to store. If you’re carting mowers, wheelbarrows or tools every week, the extra 300mm each way on a 7×5 is worth having. Both are single axle and tow just as easily.

Yes — we can arrange Victorian registration for around $160, add a new spare wheel and tyre for around $130, and deliver across Melbourne and Australia-wide from our Seaford workshop. All prices include GST.
