The size that does the lot — single axle or tandem

An 8×5 gives you a deck around 2.4m × 1.5m — big enough to load a ride-on straight up the ramp, take a full load of green waste, or cart a working week’s tools and materials in one trip. It’s also the size where you pick your running gear: a light 750kg single axle tipper from $2,495, a braked 1,500kg single for heavier loads, or a tandem rated from 2,000kg to 2,800kg that sits rock-steady at highway speed. Specials regularly take $100–$200 off.

The 8×5 range covers galvanised box trailers with 300mm or 400mm sides and removable cages, heavy-duty tippers, and purpose-built 8×5 tandem lawn mower trailers for mowing rigs. Like every Ubeaut trailer, they’re hot-dip galvanised with seam-welded checker plate floors, heavy-duty shackle springs, LED lights, a free jockey wheel and a 1-year structural warranty.

On every 8×5, whichever running gear you pick: hot dipped galvanised and fully welded; a floor of seam-welded 2.5mm checker plate folded up to form the sides, so there is no join where the sides meet the floor; 300mm or 400mm sides with tie-down rails front, rear and both sides; removable front and rear tailgates; LED tail lights with wiring and reflectors; mudflaps; your choice of flat or round plug; a free jockey wheel; a structural warranty on frame and suspension; and full compliance with the Australian Design Rules (ADR 1989).

Options and on-road costs. A lockable toolbox fits for $330 and a new spare wheel and tyre is $130. We are a registered online dealer, so Victorian buyers can have registration arranged for $160 at the time of purchase, and interstate buyers can take an unregistered vehicle permit for $35. All prices include GST.

Not sure which way to go? As a rule, bulky but light loads suit the 750kg single, regular heavy loads suit the braked 1,500kg, and weekly highway towing suits the tandem. Should I get a single axle or tandem 8×5?

If the loads are bulky but light — green waste, mowers, furniture — a single axle is cheaper, lighter and easier to move around by hand. If you’re carrying real weight like soil, timber or machinery, or towing at highway speed every week, the tandem’s higher rating and extra stability are worth the difference. The deck size is the same either way.

Will a ride-on mower fit in an 8×5?

Easily — the 2.4m × 1.5m deck takes most ride-ons straight up the ramp with room for a wheelbarrow and gear alongside. If mowing is your business, look at the 8×5 tandem lawn mower trailers — lowered deck, full-width ramp and room for the whole rig.

Do 8×5 trailers need brakes?

It depends on the rating. Our standard 8×5 single axle tippers are 750kg ATM, so no brakes are required. Anything rated above 750kg — the 1,500kg braked single and all the tandems — comes with brakes fitted to meet Australian Design Rules.

Can you sort registration and delivery?

Yes — we can arrange Victorian registration for around $160, add a new spare wheel and tyre for around $130, and deliver across Melbourne and Australia-wide from our Seaford workshop. All prices include GST.
